my original intent was to give this place five stars, and I'm keeping it at five stars because that is how I felt about it prior to reading the previous reviews...But anyways, I came to Yelp to voice my love for the fried fish sandwich, fresh juices, green sauce, and friendly staff. I love the fried fish sandwich so much like it is literally such a treat for me whenever I am in the area. I appreciate that the juices are always fresh and delicious. and the green sauce is simply incredible and a wonderful addition to the food. Like I had the fried fish sandwich back in October 2023 and I couldn't stop thinking about it until this day. That's the impact it had on me!! every time I have gone, I have always been met with super kind and friendly people. I am hoping that the previous review was a lie, if not hopefully the sanitary conditions change for the better because I would be really sad to not come back because of that ),:

For this bakery, I would give 3.5 stars, but for Yelp purposes I gave it 4 instead of 3. This bakery sits right on the corner of Van Dam Street and 47th Avenue. It's super clean inside, has cute decor and enough seating to enjoy a quick bite to eat. I ordered the pan de queso with hot chocolate and my partner ordered French toast and ham, egg and cheese. The ham, egg and cheese seemed to taste like it was cooked with the French toast on the same griddle. However, the French toast tasted like 4/5 stars. The edges were crispy, the powdered sugar was light and the syrup served with it completed the flavor profile. The pan de queso had a sweet taste and when dipped into the hot chocolate and tasted 20x better. Although the hot chocolate was a Swiss Miss packet, the way it was prepared was on point. Although this place could use some changes with food preparation, I think it's a solid option if in the area. With our plates, 2 coffees and FRESH squeezed orange juice plus tip, our entire meal was $26! Given that LaGuardia College is nearby, I urge fellow students to take advantage of the cheap prices and decently prepared food. If I ever return to this area, I will definitely come back to get the same quick bite.

So good and so cheap! Love this place so much. Come whenever I'm in the neighborhood because everything on the menu is great and there's such a wide variety of options. It's so cute on the inside too and everything is brand new.

If you happen to be in this part of Sunnyside and are craving something quick, Don Dean Bakery is a solid option to go to. I actually have tried a couple of times in the past week to go here after work, but I keep missing them as they close at 6pm. Finally, I decided to go before work and got to try them out today. I was hoping to try out their pan de yuca or their pan de yema but both were out when I went. So, instead I ordered a couple of the Bunuelos (cheese fritters), Conchas, chocolate croissant and apple pie. Both the chocolate croissant and apple pie were good. Each had a nice flaky texture and were not overly sweet. The Conchas was also very good, albeit very messy to eat. The bread was soft, sweet and went well with the white topping. The Chochas also came in a chocolate version but I did not try these. The Bunuelos were okay. It had a nice crunchy crust but tasted a little bland to me. I would like to come back and try some of their hot food like the empanadas and tacos. If only they did not close so early in the day! Tip: cash only but there's an ATM inside
